  1. 200! OMG *thud* I only got 35 from my spawn. Well there was 35 when i moved them at 4 weeks old anyway and they all grew out to adult. Was certainly more to begin with but the snails clean up any bodies almost before they hit the bottom of the tank!
  2. Had another look. There's at least 30, more i think but the little buggers won't stay still and they move so damn quick - even at only 3mm long LOL
  3. Great pics! Congratulations on your spawn! Here's to a healthy batch of fry! *clink*

:) At least you got eggs. I have sibs of theirs and my boy "Jacob" is sure i only put the girl fish in the tank with him so he can beat the hell out of them. I've tried spawning them 3 times now.... he gets one more try then will be relegated to "pretty pet fish" LOL
  7. He's a lovely VT - i really like his colour!
  8. I first attempted an F1 spawn between a Black Copper pair but when they refused to get it on again after making a snack of their first spawn of eggs, i took out the coppers and popped these 2 into the spawn tank and they were at it within 5 minutes! They had quite a few attempts at wrapping before they got the hang of it, but they have produced a small spawn of eggs. Maybe they would have continued but i spotted them eating eggs and decided a small spawn was better than no spawn. All the eggs produced in the first spawn fungused after i removed the parents. So i put them back in together about 2 days later and the day before yesterday i spotted a clutch of eggs in the nest and fished out the female. This morning i checked the tank and couldn't see anything and figured he had eaten them again Then this afternoon i checked again to make sure i wasn't missing them and we have free swimming babies!!! I must have spotted the eggs just before they hatched - luckily there's plenty of plants and life in the tank! I fished out Dad and popped in some VE. As per usual i cannot tell how many are in there, but i spotted about 10 having a quick look. If you look hard you can see a couple of babies in the centre of this shot, and another to the right. So.... Parents introduced 23-1-10 Spawned 23-1-10 Parents re-introduced 26-1-10 Eggs spotted & mum removed 28-1-10 Free Swimming Fry & dad removed 29-1-10 Tomorrow 30-1-10 is the full moon so i have another successful spawn just before full moon.
  9. :) the little ones have colour too Cassi *hides*
  10. Just thought i'd share a couple of pics of the new juvvies i have... One of 3 BN babies, about 15mm in length Juvvie fry... Lavender HMs, Platnium HMPK, Orange Metallic HMPK The largest of the Platniums Juvvie Tank
  11. The 20th is out for someone. Will let you know when we negotiate a date that works for her :)
  12. I've just emailled someone to confirm that the 20th is okay and then we can start putting the word out to figure out numbers/food/chairs/etc.
  13. I've heard back from someone and the 13th and 27th are out for her, so how does the 20th March sound?
  14. Well after a promising spawn, the coppers ate the lot and then decided they didn't want to know each other. TYPICAL! So these 2 were in my new BN tank with another 2 girls (just randomly placed before they were able to be sexed) and i spotted them... he displaying and trying to build a bubble nest - futile really, with the sponge filter running at full speed - and she all barred up and nudging him. So i took out the coppers and popped these 2 into the spawn tank and they were at it within 5 minutes! They had quite a few attempts at wrapping before they got the hang of it, but they have produced a small spawn of eggs. Maybe they would have continued but i spotted them eating eggs and decided a small spawn was better than no spawn. If they hatch ok - should be tomorrow - i'll start a spawn log for them.
  15. How are these guys going Tara?
  16. Thanks so much for these guys and the combtails Lisa I love them all!!!
  17. Tara, Thank you so, so much! Your HMPKs and HMs are just beautiful! All fish survived the travel except for one tiny, tiny HMPK. They are loving their new home and eating like little piggies! I think i can see growth on them already!

    Hello :)

    Hiya! Welcome to AAQ :D
  19. More pics.... Black Copper boy under flash - hence the purple Green Lace boy, again with flash.
  20. Black Copper HMPK Male. Purple colour is induced by flash, he is copper coloured to the naked eye. Although ventrals are difficult to see in these pics - they are there LOL Bred from Lisa's ScarabBeetle line.
  21. I can't help much but sometimes the Koi pattern is called Dalmatian, and there's an interesting article on the Betty Splendens site. I'll be watching response to you thread closely, not that i want to breed Koi patterns, but i find genetics fascinating! Best of luck!!
  22. Thank you soooo much! YAY! New fishies!!
