  1. UPDATE!!!!! Got a new Boy today, He's a red Veiltail, Mum loved him and $4 was hard to say No. I'll grab pics of him when my Aunty finishes using my semi-macro lens. Completely redid the tank, added some new bitz. Enjoy!
  2. I got loads of Java, so I can sacrifice it testing how and where it can grow.
  3. Been searching my local for Driftwood, been a bit low on the money side of late, so I can't go to see someone yet. Planning on a short plant that won't go all duckweed and take over the whole floor.
  4. I need to get a small canister for it and have it suck 4 tubes and 4 spray bars, at the moments I have 3 small hob filters, they aren't very good. I got the tank made for $80 from a friend.
  5. Ok guys I haven't seen this thread so I might as well post it. Post the pics of your other fish that don't fit into any particular category. I'll start, with Barry the sail fin pleco! He's getting pretty big, almost 1/3 of my tank! Need to sell him lol...
  6. Actually I might do this to my 2ft tank instead of the 14litre. The 2ft will give me more room to have some live bearers in the pondy bit at the bottom. ^ Yes I did draw that.
  7. I really have no idea what it is lol, and I made a mistake, its only 14 litres not an 18 litre.
  8. Hey all, I will be getting an 16-18 litre tank soon (I got it but has a male CT in it) and was thinking about turning it into a completely self contained tank that I will not have to do anything with or ever have to touch. I have plenty of rocks to go in it and a fair bit of substrate but I have no idea where to start, what plants or creatures to go in it, I was thinking of one of those special tanks with cling film on top so it never loses water. Now I want to go completely self contained as Mum wants the tanks gone due to electricity costs, but I don't want to sell the small fighter tank as it cost me a fortune. I don't want to spend much on it because I already have rocks and substrate to go in it. I'm after plants and maybe a shrimp that can survive in the tank with the oxygen the plant makes. For the life of me I can't remember what this kind of tank is called! It has a name but I just can't think of it. Just substrate a few plants and little water in a tank sealed with cling film. Edit: I found a picture similar to what I want, but this one is filled up with water. I like how this one looks.
  9. About every 4 months for me lol, only got 1 big fish in the tank and he is a 22cm pleco.
  10. Haha thanks Neffy, I'm not sure whether that is a good or a bad thing!
  11. Sorry guys I already have the tank and the sand + wood + rocks and just want to know what kind of fish would go nicely in it. I have the filter already. its a HOB filter. I am not planing on spending any money on it apart from a couple fish. Pictured tank is not mine...
  12. Hey guys I saw an amazing photo of a larger tank with just sand, timber and a single plant and thought about doing a very similar set-up with my 60x30x30. Would a single larger anubias on wood be a good substitute for the lack of plants in the tank? I was thinking of a few of my cory fry for the tank and maybe some dwarf rams? If you have a better idea about these fish as I have no idea please tell me as I would have to put my young corydoras in with rams and find they are not compatible. As I am useless with most fish other than betta's, guppies and corydoras I have no clue as to what the tank would need. I want to go minimal with this tank so I don't want visible things like a heater, so a heater would have to stay out. Unless you know a good way to hide the heater and stuff. Things I want: Almost no plants. No visible heater/no heater. Sand. Fish with personality (ie: not guppies, or goldies) I would like fish that will hang around something and not just swim the entire tank. Pic below of the tank that gave me the idea.
  13. Guppy fry are common in canisters but I never thought I would see a catfish in my filter!
  14. Ok so I was moving my Gym set today to sell it and I bumped my Eheim 2226pro canister and it sent the water black, this gave me a near heart attack and I rushed 70% of the water out and took my 2226 apart to clean. So I was pouring the water from the 2226 into my wash sink and a few algae pieces clogged up the drain, I was annoyed by this stage that I had to dig around in that stinky hole to unclog it. So as I was putting the filter onto the washing machine lid I noticed a shadow racing around the sink. So I watched it for a few seconds and it dawned on me what it was, Baby Similis! So I quickly caught it and raced it back into my 3ft then went back to cleaning my filter carefully watching what I was doing in case not to squish any more if there was any. So I got to the bottom and saw the muck and started to pour it through a net as to catch any fish that may fall out, almost empty and nothing caught in the net. I put the canister back on the washing machine lid and peered into the bottom to spot not 1 but 2 more babies, so I raced them back into the 3ft, and went back to the sink, upon arrival I put some water in there and stirred it a little and there was another 3 still in the muck. So now after watching my 4 little corys grow up along side a few b-nose and 2 plecs I can admire 11 baby Similis! Oh my, Sorry I just realised I posted this in the wrong section Can I get it moved please.
  15. I have both, I have moggies and Endlers. I would love a pure trio from someone. But, I would use them as show fish rather than breed to sell.
  16. Nah, I don't breed them, but I do have a few babies of some randoms that are far from pure. I saved them from the yabbies at pet barn. I would love to start breeding fish but I just don't want the hassle of having to sell them.
  17. I had one similar but he passed away for no reason I just woke up and he was laying on the stones with the other endlers swimming around like nothing had happened. He had a very beautiful shade of pink over his orange but I could never pick it up in camera. Here is a photo of him. Edit: Thanks to someone Lea for fishing him out for about 5 minutes. I always love my trip to FishChicks.
  18. Well, I thought maybe an old canister filter with a pump prime would would great as a gravel vac, with my tanks I lose far too much water and don't pick up enough debris.
  19. Thanks guys I posted some pics in "The Fishy Show Room" if you would like to see my fighters.
  20. Hey guys, this is my custom made fighter tank, it weighs in at 65 litres, has 3 iced glass dividers and holds 4 fighters. Currently home to 3 fighters.
  21. Hi, I'm Myles. I'm 19 years old I live in Brisbane and I like to keep Aquariums as a hobby. I don't breed fish, but my fish like to have happy time every now and again and I find lively fry racing around my tanks (<-- always a good sign in my books). I am starting to lose interest in larger tanks as I love my little fighters and how easy they are to care for and how little they need to live comfortably. I currently have 4 fighters and have had 2 pass away recently I would love to show you some good photo's of my fighters but I don't have photo's of the boys that passed away and the very first fighter I owned as he is old and tired and I don't want to flash him (Camera flash). I'm not allowed to post a photo yet of my tank, but I'll be sure to show you at a later date.
