  1. Shipment on schedule. Please do not pester me about your fish - a list will be sent to you later in the week once everything has settled into quarantine. Best regards, someone
  2. Hi, just a quick note to update the shipment calendar. If all goes well there should be a shipment from Thailand landing in Australia on Jan 12th. If you have any Aquabid purchases outstanding or auctions to complete please finalise payment and shipping info before Jan 9th. Please ensure your seller knows to contact Preecha ammara555@hotmail.com for shipping information. If you have any requests please let me know ASAP. This shipment will be arranged by a new supplier, so do not be surprised if there are changes to the dates! Exporting to Australia is not an easy process to get right! Best regards, someone
  3. look for rounded, shorter fins and deeper body depth to length. It's reasonably easy once you get an eye for it.
  4. All imports of paradise fish are supposed to be male only. What actually gets checked is another thing, particularly for the southern states. QLD AQIS is somewhat more vigorous in its application of the law. http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_casec...SessionID=0#top Hope you do well with these. We have apricots outside and they survive and breed with no care from us! Cheers, someone

  6. some useful web sites to start you off http://www.bettas-jimsonnier.com/genetics.htm http://bettysplendens.com/articles/catview.imp?catid=864 Cheers, someone
  7. http://www.bettysplendens.com/articles/pag...1113&v=chew I have seen a lot of VTM bite their tails in bags, and sometimes when on the wall. It is usually a result of infection, or being left uncarded too long. HM on my display wall are far more likely to chew on Tuesdays - because I have a staff member open the shop up and he leaves the bright lights on the tanks ALL the time - rather than just when customers are looking. I put a lot more ketapang into the water than I used to. The tanks are all quite brown in colour - but the incidence of chewing is a lot lower now. Half a leaf floated on the surface also helps shade them from the light and they seem a lot more relaxed. I also add a few small bits of ketapang leaf to the shipping bag as well as stress guard and bag buddies. Really long fin males get java moss - it is in the hope that the floating plant brushing past them will desensitize them to being touched by their tail. Give them something else to bite. Eventhe Thai's don't have an answer to this one. Cheers, someone
  8. Hi Yunanto - glad you found the forum. Your male is most likely chewing his fins - there appears to be no reddening to the fin tips which would indicate infections. He may be frustrated being able to see the female. Try putting a lot more ketapang in the water. Males seem to stress under high light. The ketapang will dim the light a bit - it also seems to soothe and calm - and will help prevent infection. I do not know how it works, just that it does! Cheers, someone
  9. am assuming you mean the BAG broke and the fish ate the cardboard??? Hard to believe! Regardless of reason at least you have a replacement. Yes - most people are on the same water supply as the shop - but in many cases the water in home tank is way different to that at a shop. While a fish can adjust to low pH and high waste slowly over a long period of time (ie a tank that is not cleaned or water changed) any new stock dropped in will suffer shock. Ranchu and other short bodied goldfish have many gut problems due to their deformed shape. Always ensure the food is wet before feeding and give lots of fibre rich foods.
  10. I like pink metallics and pandas
  11. many thanks to Vicki for her work in finding these links. Daff/AQIS have one of the most disorganized and difficult web site to navigate. Truly appalling.
  12. link no longer works. use this http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_casec...;LogSessionID=0

  14. Next shipment from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia arriving in AU on Tuesday 3rd. Please finalise aquabid purchases in the next day or so. Have a new supplier in BKK - specialising in Apistogrammas, corys and pencil fish. Will be getting in a small selection of rare and unusual fish from him. Most are wild caught from Peru and Columbia. Also getting in bettas from Nicebettas, RQProduct, Patsayawan, Preecha and possibly Kelsonbettas. Cheers, someone
  15. The fisheries The Ocean Diamondcrown Diamond_aquatic all the same seller. Draw your own conclusions.
  16. don't be too concerned with the female making 180o caudal spread - look at the ray count. From your photo she seems to have at least a 4 ray split. Red is an ok colour to cross with the lavenders and salamanders. Perhaps try the red female first so the male gets in some practice with a smaller female before trying the big pink girl. good luck, J
  17. look like a stabilized cross with an apisto of some sort. Pretty.
  18. that's not a spoon head - looks ok to me. you're not entering him in an international show! trippy colour!
  19. the first girl has a gold layer by the looks of it. Similar to the original red/golds that came out. The yellow dragon (second last pic) looks like a PKF. The male is a pretty colour. Try him with the yellow or purple dragon. Cheers, someone
  20. thanks Bill. Other site of interest/information http://www.petnews.com.au/industry_news.htm and if you really want to keep your finger on the pulse http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon/asp/ex_alertscontent.asp cheers, J
