  1. I have taken the Platies out of my 4 foot tank and put my Axolotls in there instead.
  2. I don't want to distrupt the peaceful tank really, or force fish to live in conditions they don't like
  3. I've got a 4 foot tank with a very healthy population of Platies, but I'm looking for some others just to add a bit of variety. I had a Pearl Gourami and a Kissing Gourami, but they just weren't rough and tough enough to compete for food with the Platies. I've been looking at Angel fish, or Electric Yellow Cichlids. I'm after something that will help keep the Platy population down (heavily planted tank so will always have some babies) and keep the snail population down but I know that no fish lives on snails alone. I'm after some colour really.
  4. They are meant to be nocturnal, but Captain Slow spends all day swimming and playing and sleeps at night.
  5. That's him He's still super stroppy about losing the 4 foot tank!
  6. That's where having a gold albino comes in handy! He looks amazing on the black!
  7. It's a really fine gravel that my LFS buys in bulk and rebags. It's a great substrate, axolotl safe even :)
  8. Nah, just a cheapy from my LFS. Stained the stand myself to match the trim in my living room.
  9. This is my first ever successful planted tank. A layer of dino dung covered in gravel. 2 T5 tubes. Plants: Milfoil Pennywort Val Lilaeopsis Hairgrass Amazon sword Crypt. Wendtii Tropica Java Fern Home to Platies and 2 Bristlenose catfish I am looking for a pair of centrepiece fish, either gourami or angels
  10. sanders-904 on eBay sells amazing plants packages, I've bought from them a few times lately and all the plants are growing like mad and multiplying!
  11. Getting my 4 foot tank tomorrow and cheating a litte, adding a huge layer of Dino Dung under a layer of gravel. I just can't find any potting soil that's suitable here.
  12. Thanks, I picked an LED bar up off eBay just waiting for it to arrive! :cheer:
  13. How do I know if potting mix has all the added things? Like water savers and fertilisers? do they also state it?
  14. I'm hoping for an albino and a wildtype, but I have to see what the petshop in tamworth have when we get there
  15. You can grow worms on newspaper and teabags! He's a happy boy with his pellets, but I'm getting my next 2 next week so we'll see what happens food wise then
