  1. You'll need to find a pet shop that is an AquaOne stockist. The easiest way to find the nearest one to you is to go to the UK AquaOne Website, select Australia & AquaOne (the brand name may not be available so enter without it... it'll return with AquaOne in the 'select brand' box). Once on the Australia page, select "Find a Stockist" in the heading bar at the top (far right tab) just under the AquaOne Sign. This will take you to the "Find an Aqua One stockist in your area" page... just enter your postcode and Bob's your uncle. The Product code you'll need to quote to be able to order this system is 53349bk. Hope that helps :)
  2. Hi Queenserpentine, Just wondering... what lighting are you using? I've got the same system and have yet to work this bit out... have currently got some stick on LEDs' that are chewing up the batteries. Cheers, Linley
  3. Hi Jono, They are ALL just gorgeous, I don't know how you'd ever think of leaving them behind... ...You must, You must, You must bring those beauties to QLD especially that MG BF HM ... and the MG PK pair ... and oh yes those CT's ... oh to hell with it - BRING THE LOT *lol*

    Hi All

Kia Ora Jono. I'm originally from Kawerau and have also settled in QLD. I live near/on the Redcliffe Peninsula (the bit that sticks out on the coast just above Brisbane) and have not looked back since. However on saying that, NZ was a great place to grow up in . We definitely need more Betta fanatics in QLD . Linley
  5. I live on the peninsula (Redcliffe) and I don't have any heaters in my individual tanks. I've not experienced any temp. problems to date. If it's chilly enough to put the heater on, would it be possible to move the tanks into the same or near the same room? My fish are sort of scattered throughout the house (kinda hoping hubby won't notice them too much) so I tend to keep the whole house at a constant temp. I know some people find it a lot easier to keep all the fish in one room and just heat the room thereby doing away with individual tank heaters... but with 5 kids, I don't have a spare room ;)
  6. I too looked (and drooled) at that Choc Steel Melano... but tied my hands in a knot and pulled the phone lines from the wall. I've more than my hands full with 2 x spawns, more fish than hubby would like me to have (apart from stressing about the 260 babies that are growing bigger everyday) and now a cat whose decided to take an interest in fishing... inside!!! Needless to say, I've now some very stressed out girls, battling velvet & white spot. Hope you do stay with the blacks as they are quite stunning IMHO and like you, I also like the blues & coppers. It makes a nice change from the increasing interest in metallics and dragons (if these are not one in the same)... that's not to say I don't like these, I absolutely love the latest spawn of CallaLilli Bettas (not sure if I got that right)... but it does involve a copper black dragon & a black lace HMPK. In my black collection (so far) I've a black plakat male, black & red bicolour HM male (avatar pic), 3 x black lace HM girls). I've a small spawn from my black plakat and black lace HM and a large spawn from my avatar guy and a copper? black lace HM. I started off thinking I'd like to do blues, but black is rather striking particularly when mixed with the golds, coppers, reds etc. I'd like to perfect a black HM and a black crowntail... one day.
  7. Definitely deserves his own thread. He's gorgeous...well done.
  8. killimike, lol ... oh no he doesn't have that much of a problem... it's a JD glass I'm currently using as a photo cube. He has drinking problem well under control these days... limits his consumption to one glass per day ... or so he tells me Cheers Linley
  9. Ghost has got the most gorgeous face... makes you want to just squeeze his little cheeks :D
  10. Yeah, I'd like to see some photos of your blue CT pair as well. I got these from someone last month. I too have these guys lined up for spawning but I've already got a couple of other spawns on the go at the moment, so will have to wait a little bit longer. I couldn't get his colour right... he's actually a lot brighter than what is shown here with a lot of turquoise on his fins. Isn't she just adorable I've also have this guy who just doesn't stop moving... even in a scotch glass I don't have a friend for him... yet, but would also like to get some babies off of him as well. I must admit, I tend not to go for the perfect form, I just go with what I like the look of - primarily colours... I'm a sucker for blue :)
  11. I can also vouch this camera is awesome. I've also just bought one of these online for $515.38. There are a couple of stores online that are a little cheaper than this... but they didn't have any instock at the time although both stores said they were able to get them. I got mine from JC's Tech Shop. It is really easy to use, and just after a little play for a couple of hours, I produced these : Blaze checking out the new camera. Savine, his girlfriend. 3 week old baby from my very first spawn (not related to above pair). Same fry, just a closer front on shot... the big white moth looking things are brine shrimp. I'm now really looking forward to being able to see what else this camera can do.
  12. With regards to the brine shrimp ... Callatya says "No, but you seem to get a higher hatch rate if you are moving the eggs around.", Lyarlla says "I had a better hatch rate with brine shrimp when I didnt airate the water... If you chose to airate, make sure its really slow and only does a few bubbles at a time." and Lilli says "I have had the best hatch rates when the water is vigorously aerated." Hmmm... seems like it's a case of whatever works for you. I've just recently had my first lot of babies so when it came to hatching bs, I just followed the instructions that came with the eggs - well aerated. I've had a greater than 80% hatch rate everytime, so I'll probably just stick to that (just a classic case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"). ... although I now feel an experiment coming on.
  13. That's so sad There is something very special about your very first Betta... apart from being the one that get's you hooked into this hobby, he's the 'guinea pig' that when you get it all wrong, still forgives you. That indeed was a lovely tribute.
  14. Being relatively new to this hobby, I read this forum almost on a daily basis, and have only made a couple of postings. This is not because I'm not interested in posting but more because I feel quite humble in the presence of 'experts' and feel I've nothing to contribute in most threads. I do scour this forum for information but I also consider myself an "active, participating member" and where I can, I will add to a thread, but I don't see the point in posting for the sake of posting. I am new, I have no experience, I'm still in training. But when I'm old, with experience ... I'll have plenty to say . Ooops, back to the topic... I voted last week. All great entries BTW.
  15. This topic! was posted last year and I think this is what you might be looking for. You will need to get an AquaOne retailer (LFS) to order one for you. Product code is 53349bk and RRP is quoted by AquaOne as being $470 but they are available for considerably less - somewhere around the $250 - $300 mark. I bought mine for $290 last week. This unit holds 12 fish and comes with a filter but no lighting. ATM I'm just using some stick on LED lights until I get something a little more substantial Hope this helps
